As you can see, the entrepreneurs in Ghana don’t mess around. Given the deep religiousity of Ghanaians, when God says phone, people phone. Maybe the other guy selling shoes benefits from some of the business by God Says Phone. On Sunday morning, in addition to the busy churches, a marketplace in the town of Cape Coast was packed full of people buying and selling all kinds of goods. Clothing, shoes, and other everyday goods were all over the place – I was tempted to buy the Obama brand underwear!
The market brought heavy traffic on one of the main streets through Cape Coast. There was one section of the road that was completely stopped, and I made it through faster on foot than I would have in a taxi. After walking through parts of town that I had not yet visited, I walked over to the stadium to catch a Division 1 soccer match. It was a good match, with the Coconuts beating Windy Point 2-0, but there was a lot of stoppage time (and some terrible acting).
